Rockin' & Rollin' Geology Special
2009 marks the first year of the Nevada Northern Railway's Rockin' & Rollin' Geology Special. You're intiveted to board our time machine on one of four trips up to the Sunshine siding near the Robinson mine to learn about the geology that made the Robinson district a top copper producer for more than seventy years during the twentieth century.
The Rockin' & Rollin' Geology Special pulls out of East Ely only four times in 2009; scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays June 13, July 18, August 15, and September 12. Join us for this rare trip as far as the Sunshine siding near the mines. Reservations are suggested; seating is limited. Call the museum toll free at 1-866-40STEAM (or 775-289-2085) or order online.

BBQ Trains

Come hungry for a real western BBQ. The meat has been slow cooking all day over mountain mahogany coals in a BBQ designed as replica of locomotive 40 . The meal includes finger licking ribs, beans, baked potato, coleslaw, and a freshly baked roll. Beverages include your choice of ice tea, water, or soda. Beer or wine is extra. Adults $46; Children (4-12) $25; Children under age 4 ride free.
We depart East Ely at 6:30 p.m. on four selected Saturday evenings: May 30, June 27, August 1, and August 29. Call the museum toll free at 1-866-40STEAM (or 775-289-2085) or order online.

The Chocolate Express

Marking its third year in 2009, the Chocolate Express departs from the East Ely station on four Saturday evenings: June 6, July 11, August 8, and September 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Join us as we head up the hill to watch sunset and enjoy chocolate. Some people don't just "like" chocolate—they are absolutely, completely, enamored with and addicted to this food, like no other substance on earth. Quite simply, chocolate makes them feel good. They put a piece of it in their mouth, close their eyes, and slowly swoon into euphoria as the sweet, gooey stuff spreads warmly over their taste buds, caressing their tongue with sensual texture and deep, rich flavor. It is no accident that the Latin name for cocoa (Theobroma cacao), from which chocolates are made, translates as "food of the gods." Beverages include your choice of ice tea, water, or soda. Beer, wine, or champagne is extra.
"Research tells us that 14 out of any 10 individuals like chocolate."
—Sandra Boynton, Chocolate: The Consuming Passion
Adults $46; Children (4-12) $25; Children under age 4 ride free. Call the museum toll free at 1-866-40STEAM (or 775-289-2085) or order online.

Reservations are also required for the summer's most highly anticipated event, the 4th of July Fireworks Train! The evening begins at 5:00pm with an old-style barbecue with all the trimmings, in the NNRy plaza. Then it's onto the train at 7:00 p.m., where just after sunset, you'll have the best seat in White Pine County to watch the annual fireworks display! BBQ and Fireworks Train: Adults $42; Children (4-12) $25. Fireworks Train only: Adults $28; Children (4-12) $16. Children under age 4 ride free.
